This program will focus on the lives and writings of two exceptional Black artists from the last half of the twentieth century: playwright, radical lesbian, and activist, Lorraine Hansberry &  playwright, poet and feminist, Ntozake Shange.

African American Scholar James Wright and guest speakers will discuss Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun & The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window as well as Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/ When The Rainbow Is Not Enuf & A Photograph: Lovers-in-Motion.
