We are very happy to announce that the Bureau of General Services—Queer Division will move to The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center at 208 West 13th Street in October! The Bureau’s move will mark an exciting moment in the history of both institutions as we will join The Center as its current renovation project nears its conclusion this fall. The Bureau will continue to offer local and visiting queers and allies a stimulating selection of books, zines, art, and events, and we look forward to collaborating with The Center on special events and programs.
Lady Quesa’Dilla, one of the charming information & referral specialists at The Center’s front desk, will preside over our Grand Opening on the evening of Saturday, October 4th, and we will announce other performers in the coming weeks. Our opening art exhibition at The Center will feature the work of Gio Black Peter, to be followed by an exhibition of Rebecca Levi‘s work in late November, and we’re planning a smart and sexy line-up of events! As always, we welcome your proposals, so please keep ’em coming!
Our last day of business at 83A Hester Street will be on Saturday, September 20th. In our final weeks on the Lower East Side we look forward to hosting an exciting variety of readings and performances, including the return of the monthly events Deadline, hosted by Ariel Speedwagon Federow and Sabrina Chap, and TELL, hosted by Drae Campbell. The Bureau will also host one more exhibition in our 83A Hester Street location, beginning on September 10th, featuring the work of Jeffrey Burdian, who will perform in the space onFriday, September 19th.
