A leading figure in the current generation of Palestinian writers, Raji Bathish comes to us straight from Nazareth to read from his genre-defying, provocative texts that unsettle both liberal Zionists and Palestinian nationalists.
Facilitator and translator: Suneela Mubayi
A Palestinian poet, novelist, screenplay writer and queer cultural activist born and raised in Nazareth,
Raji Bathish’s work has been widely published across the Arab and Israeli-Palestinian worlds. He has published eight books of poetry and short stories, of which the best-known is
A Room in Tel-Aviv in 2007. He is co-editor of the radical literary page
anboob that seeks to promote a Palestinian and Arabic literature without the imposition of patriarchal borders of genre or nationality.
Suneela Mubayi is a graduate student in Arabic Literature at NYU and counts translation amongst her interests. She hopes one day to be able to call herself a poet.
