Sensations Magazine: First Century of the American Gay Rights Movement, 1924-2024, Research Presentation with Poetry (in person & live-streaming)

Historian, publisher, and poet David Messineo shares highlights from his recent research findings on “The First Century of the American Gay Rights Movement, 1924-2024” – the theme of the 2024 Sensations Magazine – and is joined by poets Alyta Adams, Joel Allegretti, Davidson Garrett, Steve Koenig, and others TBA, sharing their original poems published in the issue.

A Q&A will follow the presentation. No open mic.

Sensations Magazine is an award-winning literary magazine based in New Jersey, publishing independently since 1987.  Copies of the 2024 Sensations Magazine are available for purchase at the Bureau for $25–reduced to $20 at the event!

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

 

This event will take place in person at the Bureau of General Services—Queer Division, on the second floor (room 210) of The LGBT Community Center, 208 W. 13th St., NYC, 10011.

Registration is not required. Seating is first come, first served.

The Bureau will solicit donations at the beginning of the event—we especially encourage donations from those who do not plan to purchase any books or publications.

All are welcome to attend, with or without a donation.

We will pass a bag for donations at the start of the event, but we can also take credit card donations at the register or on Venmo @BGSQD
