Great turnout for the I’m from Driftwood readings at the Bureau last night

Last night the Bureau hosted Nathan Manske, founder and executive director of the non-profit organization I’m from Driftwood, and three contributors to the I’m from Driftwood book: Hugh Ryan, Damien Butvick, and Rafi Mittlefehldt. I’m from Driftwood collects and presents stories of queer lives from all over the world in order to build a sense of connection between queers everywhere.

Nathan read the stories of gay, lesbian, and transgender contributors to the book, and the others read their own contributions. These are moving stories by queers about their individual experiences of growing up in a wide variety of contexts, from hostile and punitive to loving and supportive. The Bureau was full of enthusiastic queers and allies who came to listen to the stories and connect with one another.

Thank you Nathan, Hugh, Damien, and Rafi! I’d also like to thank our lovely volunteers, Maja and Alrun, and to all who attended.
