How do I place an order on the Bureau’s online store?

Click here to visit the online store. Once you’re on the store’s homepage you can click on “Books by category,” “Zines, chapbooks, and other publications,” or “Gift certificates.” You can also scroll down the page to view some of our featured products. Once you’ve decided on an item just click “add to bag.” The quantity is automatically set at 1, but you can increase the quantity if you wish. At this point you can click “back to catalog” to continue browsing or click on “go to checkout” (see illustration below.)

If you are on the check0ut page you can return to browsing by clicking on “continue shopping” beneath your shopping cart details (see illustration below).

How do I remove an item from my cart?

To remove any item from your shopping cart you need to go to the checkout page by clicking on the shopping bag icon in the Store header or in the bottom right corner. Click the X to the right of the title and above the price in order to remove the item from your cart (see illustration below).

How do I find a specific title or a book by a particular author?

At the top of every page in the online store you will see a search bar. You can enter keywords, titles, names, or ISBNs (see below).

What are my shipping options?

At present we do not have regular access to our physical store’s inventory, so we are only able to ship books that are available in the direct-to-home program provided by our distributor, Ingram. Our online store software does not work well with Ingram’s shipping options, so we’ve made things easy (if limited) by offering a flat rate for UPS Ground Service: $6.50. If you would like to explore other shipping options or if you would like to place an order for delivery outside of the U.S., please send us an email at

A few items (primarily zines) have a set shipping fee per item that is less than $6.50. These items will be shipped by the Bureau or by a vendor with whom the Bureau is partnering.

Once we are able to reopen our physical store we will offer many more shipping options. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

I don’t see what I’m looking for. Do you take special orders?

Yes! Email us at and let us know the title and/or ISBN of the book you’re looking for. We are happy to look up any titles and let you know what your options are.

I received a gift certificate to the Bureau’s online store. How do I redeem it?

Once you’ve selected the items you’d like to purchase, go to the checkout page by clicking on “shopping bag” on the Store header or the bag icon at the bottom right corner of any page on the online store. On the checkout page, beneath the Shopping cart details you will see the option to “redeem your code.” Enter the code you received in the box labeled “Enter your gift card code” and then hit “Apply” (see illustration below).
